Number line subtraction fun

Today we learnt how to use a number line to help us solve subtraction (take away) problems. 
We started on a big number line that Mrs Robertson drew on the carpet in class. We would jump backwards on the number line to work out the answer.
For example if the problem was 9-5=
We would start on the number 9 then jump backwards 5 numbers. The number we ended on would be the answer   9-5=4




We then went outside and all drew our own number lines so we could work out some problems ourselves.
