AMAZING ROOM 11 READERS

In Room 11 we have been learning to connect with what we are reading on a deeper level.
We read a book called A job for Dad.
This was a story about some children who wanted their Dad to change jobs.
Our task was to create a job poster to advertise a new job that Dad could apply for.
It needed to include.....

  • A border
  • A title
  • A eye catching picture
  • A sentence or two detailing what skills you may need for this job.
After we had finished our posters we judged them in class.

These were our winners!

Ryley's favourite animal

My favourite animal is a dog because it can jump as high as a kangaroo and it eats dog biscuits. They can fetch balls and when you are eating your dinner they try to snatch it off you. They can be all colours. They are little, and big, and medium. I wonder how they can smell far away?

Some AMAZING writing!!

Room 11 went for a walk through the school looking at the beautiful colours and listening to the sounds whilst smelling the autumn air. We watched the leaves falling, then picked them up and felt them.

After a brainstorm about what we saw, felt, smelt and heard, we wrote storys about it.

Check out Ash's, Meg's and Hero's amazingly detailed Autumn writing.

It was a windy day and the leaves were falling off the trees. I saw a leaf as red as a school top.
We were finding autumn leaves at the bottom field. I picked up a leaf and it felt cold and spiky.
I heard crackling leaves when I scrunched up a leaf in my hand.
By Ash.

On Monday Room 11 went to the bottom field. We saw crunching leaves. When I touched the leaf it was freezing. I smelt smoke coming from the chimneys. The leaves rattled down the tree like plates when they are in cars. I saw bright, colourful leaves and I heard a crunch when I stood on a leaf. Autumn leaves spin down from the trees.
By Meg

On a sunny day the sky was blue like the sea. We went for a walk to the bottom
field. I saw leaves spinning like a fidget spinner from the trees. I picked up a
leaf and it felt spiky and crunchy.

Our school environment

This term our new learning is about the environment. To understand what this is we have been looking more deeply at our school environment.
This week we have been on a scavenger hunt. We needed to find different things in our environment to draw in order to complete the scavenger hunt. Things like...... something with more legs than me, something noisey, something really big......

We had so much fun doing it!
